Terms of Use
Effective date: October 28, 2026
These terms govern your use of TaxRefundCalculator.io (the "Site"). By using the Site, you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.
1. What this Site is
TaxRefundCalculator.io is a free, informational tool that estimates a U.S. federal tax refund or balance due for common wage-earning (W-2) situations within the scope described on the page you are using.
- The Site is free to use. We do not currently earn affiliate commissions — see our Affiliate Disclosure.
- It does not require an account. Your numbers are calculated in your browser and are not sent to our servers.
- The Site is operated by a private individual. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) or any other government agency.
2. What our estimates are not
This is the most important section on this page:
- Estimates are not tax, legal, accounting, or financial advice.
- Using the Site does not create a CPA–client, attorney–client, or any professional relationship between you and us.
- Estimates are not a substitute for IRS official tools, tax filing software, or advice from a qualified tax professional.
- An estimate is not a promise or guarantee of any refund amount, refund timing, or balance due. Your actual tax result is determined solely by the IRS, based on your official tax return.
3. How estimates are produced, and why yours may differ
Estimates are generated by a fixed calculation that follows published IRS rules for the tax year shown on the page, using figures from IRS publications, some of which are provisional drafts, as noted on the page. Even so, your actual result may differ from our estimate. Common reasons include:
- Scope limits. The calculator supports specific situations (for example, W-2 wages, standard deduction, and the credits listed on the page). When your situation falls outside that scope, the tool will tell you so instead of producing a number — but situations we appear to cover may still involve details the tool does not model.
- Simplifications. Some calculations are simplified compared with the full IRS worksheets, and rounding is applied in specific places, as described on the tool page.
- Input accuracy. Estimates are only as accurate as the numbers you enter. Please check them against your W-2 or other tax forms.
- Law changes. Tax rules, thresholds, and credit amounts change. Figures are updated when the IRS publishes final numbers, but there may be a gap between an IRS announcement and a page update.
- Eligibility. Credits such as the Child Tax Credit and the Earned Income Tax Credit depend on eligibility rules (age, relationship, residency, Social Security numbers, and more). The tool asks only a limited set of questions.
You should not file your taxes, change your withholding, or make any financial decision based solely on an estimate from this Site.
4. Your responsibilities
- Enter your information accurately, and verify results against official IRS resources or a qualified professional before acting.
- You are responsible for your own tax return and for decisions you make based on information from this Site.
- Do not misrepresent output from this Site as an official IRS determination, and do not use the Site in any way that disrupts or overloads it.
5. No warranties
The Site and its content are provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of accuracy, completeness, merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Site will be available at all times, or that calculations will be free of errors.
6. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we will not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of refund, overpayment, penalty, or interest, arising from or related to your use of the Site or reliance on its estimates.
Our total aggregate liability arising from or related to your use of the Site will not exceed one hundred U.S. dollars (US $100). Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
7. Intellectual property
The Site's text, design, layout, and calculator implementation are owned by TaxRefundCalculator.io and protected by applicable copyright laws. Tax rules, thresholds, and figures published by the IRS are public information from official IRS sources; nothing here claims IRS ownership or endorsement. You may not copy or republish substantial portions of the Site without permission, but you are welcome to link to any page.
8. Third-party links and advertising
The Site contains links to third-party websites. We do not currently participate in affiliate programs, use affiliate links, or earn affiliate commissions. If we introduce affiliate links in the future, they may earn us a commission. We will identify those links where they appear and update our Affiliate Disclosure. We do not control third-party sites and are not responsible for their content, pricing, or privacy practices.
9. Privacy
Calculations run locally in your browser; the numbers you enter are not transmitted to us. For the full picture — analytics, cookies set by third parties, and affiliate networks — see our Privacy Policy.
10. Availability and changes to the Site
We may update, modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Site, including the calculator and the tax figures it uses, at any time and without notice. Updates to tax figures follow official IRS publications for the tax year shown on each page.
11. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. When we do, we will change the effective date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the Site after a change means you accept the updated terms.
